SEDATION DENTISTRY BY AZURE DENTAL
It is normal to experience some anxiety when entering a new environment. Visiting a dentist causes some anxiety in most people.
At Azure Dental, we understand that, so we created an atmosphere of calm and serenity for our patients.
Our staff is warm and welcoming, and we provide a variety of amenities to make your visit as comfortable and relaxing as possible. For many, that alone calms their fears and makes their dental visit enjoyable.
Other people still experience discomfort and need a little more help in order to calm down. In this case, options can include oral sedation and nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”).
When sedation is used to relieve anxiety, the patient is completely relaxed. Dental procedures are carried out productively and efficiently, so when you come out of sedation, your dental work will be completed and you will feel refreshed and at peace.
We use the time you are under sedation wisely, completing as much dental work in the allotted time as is realistic.
NITROUS OXIDE & ORAL SEDATION
For over a hundred years, nitrous oxide has been used as a sedative to relax people. It is commonly known as “laughing gas.”
This method of sedation works well, especially on children who may experience inordinate anxiety during their dental visit. It also works well for patients with special needs, like physical or mental impairments, which may make a dental visit uncomfortable or irritating. The relaxed state provided by the gas helps the patient stay calm and sometimes induces sleep.
Oral sedation involves a medicine that is administered to patients with very high anxiety levels. It also provides a calm state, alleviating the patient’s qualms about the procedure and allowing for a pleasant and relaxed experience. The patient regains alertness after procedures are completed.
It is important to review the patient’s medical history before administering sedation. All medicines and supplements are taken into consideration. We ask if you are a smoker, and we need to know about your alcohol intake.
Once we determine that you are a good candidate for sedation, we go over the process with you so that you know what to expect and you can be adequately prepared for your dental visit. If you have anxiety or a phobia regarding dental treatment, contact Azure Dental today for the care you need to maintain optimal oral health.
We are committed to your comfort and well-being and want you to have a positive, comfortable dental visit.
